Summary

The City of Clermont is seeking a professional service attorney or legal firm to provide regular, ongoing City Attorney services. This work includes regular, reoccurring legal services, in addition to legal services provided on an on-call basis. It is expected that a portion of legal services can be provided remotely through the use of technology, but it would also be expected that the firm be available in person to include City Council meetings and Municipal Court appearances at least a few times a month.

Background

The City of Clermont is a first-tier suburb located in central Florida, in southeast Lake County. It encompasses an area of approximately 20 square miles and has an estimated population of 49,000.

The City provides a full range of municipal services, including police and fire protection, water and wastewater services, sanitation, recreation, public improvements, streets, planning and zoning, and general administrative services.

The City operates under a “council-manager” form of local government. The Mayor and four Council members are elected at large on a nonpartisan basis.
