IntroductionThe City of Craig invites qualified vendors to submit responses to this request for proposal(RFP) for refurbishment of one, Model 300 Allis Chalmers centrifugal pump (pump motornot included). The current seals are to be replaced with Chesterton 442 split mechanicalseals. Shipping and delivery prices should be included in the RFP. City staff will remove thepump to be ready for packaging and truck shipment.II. Project BackgroundThe City of Craig is located in the Northwest corner of Colorado within Moffat County. Thepopulation is approximately 9,000. The Wastewater Treatment Facility is located at 2301West 1st Street, Craig, CO 81625. Background information on the City including the currentand past budgets can be found on the City’s website at www.ci.craig.co.us .The pump included in this RFP moves raw sewage water from an influent wet well to anaeration basin and usually operates around 5 psig. We have four pumps that perform thisfunction of which two are considered redundant. The equipment is refurbished on anapproximate 15- year cycle, however the pump in question was submerged in untreatedwastewater 6 years ago and lessened the life of pump components. Due to the uniquearrangement of the intake and discharge piping, it is difficult to find another pump thatwould be a direct replacement without requiring a re-design of the piping.III.
