ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDSSealed Bids will be received by the City of Daphne at Daphne City Hall (1705 Main Street, P. O. Box 400,Daphne, AL 36526) until 11:30 A.M. on June 4, 2026 and thereafter the same will be publicly openedfor furnishing all labor and materials, and performing all Work required by City of Daphne for the followingProject:BID DOCUMENT NO: 2026-F-MECHANICAL SHOP ROOF REPLACEMENTNo bids will be accepted after the above stated date and timeNinety (90) calendar days will be allowed for the completion of the Project.The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to remove andreplace the existing roof at the Mechanical Shop. Work includes the main roof area (182' x 100') and theattached lean-to (128' x 30'), totaling approximately 22,040 square feet.All Bids must be on blank forms provided in the Specifications and submitted in its entirety. A cashier’scheck drawn on an Alabama bank or a Bidder’s bond, payable to City of Daphne, Alabama, for an amountnot less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid, but in no event more than ten thousand dollars($10,000), shall be filed with the Bid. The Bidder’s bond shall be prepared on the form specified andsigned by a bonding company authorized to do business in the State of Alabama.A performance bond in the form and terms approved by the City in an amount not less than the contractprice will be required at the signing of the Agreement. A labor and materials bond in the form and termsapproved by the City in an amount not less than the contract price insuring payment for all labor andmaterials shall also be required at the signing of the Agreement. In addition, the Contractor must furnishto the City at the time of the signing of the Agreement a certificate of insurance coverage as provided inthe Contract Documents. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all Bids, to waive informalities,and to furnish any item of material or work to change the amount of the Contract Price.Liquidated damages for non-completion of the Work within the Contract Times will be assessed inaccordance with the terms of the Contract.Bidders shall not include speculative or anticipated tariffs in their bid price. Only tariffs announced orimposed as of the bid submission deadline may be considered in calculating bid amounts. If applicabletariffs are imposed after the bid submission deadline, the awarded contractor may request a change orderpursuant to the contract’s price-escalation provision.Bids are invited from all qualified respondents. The City of Daphne is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Allminority business enterprises (MBE) and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE) will be taken intoconsideration.No Bids will be considered unless the Bidder, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properlyqualified to submit a Bid for this Project in accordance with all applicable laws of the State of Alabama.This shall include evidence of holding a current license from the State Licensing Board for GeneralContractors, as required by Chapter 8, Title 34 of the Code of Alabama (1975). In addition, non-residentsof the State, if a corporation, shall show evidence of having qualified with the Secretary of State to dobusiness in the State of Alabama.In evaluating Bidders, the City will consider the qualifications of Bidders and may consider thequalifications and experience of Subcontractors, Suppliers, and other individuals or entities proposed forthose portions of the Work for which the identity of Subcontractors, Suppliers, and other individuals orentities must be submitted as may be provided in the Supplementary Conditions.The City may conduct such investigations as the City deems necessary to establish the responsibility,qualifications, and financial ability of Bidders, proposed Subcontractors, Suppliers, individuals, or entitiesproposed for those portions of the Work in accordance with the Contract Documents.The City may disqualify Bidders that have had prior demands placed on a bid bond, payment bond, orperformance bond within the last five (5) years prior to the date of this Bid submission.The City may disqualify Bidders that have prior or existing litigation arising from allegations regarding thequality of work performed on any contract within the last five (3) years prior to the date of this Bidsubmission.If the Contract is to be awarded, the City will award the Contract to the lowest responsive and responsibleBidder.No Bid shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent to the opening of Bids without theconsent of the City Council of City of Daphne, Alabama.A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held on May 21, 2026 at 10:00 A.M., at the City of DaphneMechanical Shop, 911 Shop Lane, Daphne, AL 36526.
