The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires the procurement of a High Purity Germanium (HPGe) gamma spectroscopy detector system to support radiological analysis and environmental monitoring activities conducted by the Department’s laboratory programs. The detector system will enhance the laboratory’s ability to perform high-resolution gamma spectroscopy for environmental samples, regulatory monitoring, and radiological assessment.

The equipment will be supplied by Mirion Technologies (Canberra), Inc., a manufacturer specializing in radiation detection instrumentation and laboratory measurement systems.
Bidders are required to complete and return the “Reciprocal Limitations Form” electronically attached to the IFB file. Reference see Title 62 Pa C.S. Section 107.

High Purity Germanium Detector System Procurement
1. Background
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires the procurement of a High Purity Germanium (HPGe) gamma spectroscopy detector system to support radiological analysis and environmental monitoring activities conducted by the Department’s laboratory programs. The detector system will enhance the laboratory’s ability to perform high-resolution gamma spectroscopy for environmental samples, regulatory monitoring, and radiological assessment.

The equipment will be supplied by Mirion Technologies (Canberra), Inc., a manufacturer specializing in radiation detection instrumentation and laboratory measurement systems.
2. Scope of Work
The Contractor shall provide, deliver, and supply a complete GC4018 Special U-Style High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector system including all components necessary for operation, calibration, and integration with laboratory spectroscopy systems.
The system shall be fully configured and delivered with required hardware components and detector characterization necessary for radiological measurement applications.
3. Equipment and Components
The Contractor shall provide the following equipment and associated components as specified in the vendor quotation:

• GC4018 Standard P-Type Coaxial Detector
o Relative Efficiency ≥ 40% at 1332 keV
o Peak-to-Compton ratio ≥ 63:1
o High-resolution gamma spectroscopy performance
Cryostat and Dewar Assembly
• Horizontal Integral Dewar – 30 Liter Capacity
• Solid RTV Collar Final Assembly
• Special U-Style Cryostat Assembly
• Special Coaxial Chamber Assembly
• Aluminum End Cap (Ø 3.00" x 8.25")
Electronics and Cabling
• Intelligent Pre-Amplifier (iPA-II-10)
o Resistive feedback preamplifier
o Box mounted
o 10-pin connector interface
• Coax Detector RC Cold Preamplifier Assembly
• 10-foot preamplifier cable set
Detector Characterization and Calibration
• ISOCS Characterization for Standard HPGe Detector
o Defines detector efficiency-space relationship
o Includes radioactive quality control check source
o Compatible with Mirion calibration software
These components collectively constitute a fully configured detector assembly designed for high-resolution gamma spectroscopy analysis.

4. Deliverables
The Contractor shall provide the following deliverables:
1. One (1) GC4018 Special U-Style HPGe Detector System
2. Integrated cryostat and 30L dewar assembly
3. Pre-amplifier and associated detector electronics
4. Detector cabling and connection hardware
5. Detector efficiency characterization (ISOCS)
6. Radioactive QC check source for calibration verification
7. Manufacturer documentation including:
o Equipment manuals
o Detector performance specifications
o Calibration and characterization documentation
5. Delivery and Schedule
• Estimated shipment: Approximately five (5) months after receipt of order (ARO).

6. Acceptance Criteria
Equipment will be considered accepted upon:
• Delivery of all listed components
• Verification of detector specifications and operational status

The Department reserves the right to verify system functionality upon installation.
7. Cost
Q-56225-GC4018 special U-style - All costs shall be inclusive of equipment, characterization services, documentation, and shipment as identified in the vendor quotation.
Please include all costs including shipping and handling within the costs of the line items supplied. The contractor shall ship all equipment FOB destination. No additional costs allowed.
