BackgroundThe City of Sierra Vista is a city in Cochise County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2020 census the population of the city was 43,319. The city is part of the Sierra Vista-Douglas Metropolitan Area, with a 2020 population of 139,952. Fort Huachuca, a U.S. Army post, is located in the northwest part of the city. Sierra Vista, which is Spanish for "Mountain Range View", is located seventy-five (75) miles (121 km) southeast of Tucson and serves as the main commercial, cultural, and recreational hub of Cochise County.
The Sierra Vista Public Library (“Library”) was first established in 1959. In 1999, a new, modern, and much larger facility was completed. This 31,200 square foot building serves a population of approximately 75,000 residents of Sierra Vista/Cochise County. The library offers a full range of traditional library services to children, teens, adults, and seniors, including computers and free Wi-Fi service. The library is open six (6) days each week. Hours of Operation are as follows for the Library:
Sunday: Closed
Monday through Thursday: 09:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Friday: 09:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
The Library is closed on City holidays.
The Library records an average of approximately 11,000 patrons each month. The facility also averages nearly ninety groups per month using the two (2) public meeting rooms.
