Advance Notice of Design-Build Solicitation

Pending approval by the Board of Regents at their January 09, 2025, meeting, the UW Facilities, Project Delivery Group, anticipates issuing a request for qualifications in January 2025 for the purpose of

selecting a Design-Builder to provide the design and construction of the UW Welcome Center. UW will engage in a two-part Integrated Design-Build (IDB) selection process: the General Contractor selection

followed by the Design Architect selection. Desired qualifications of the Design-Builder include: integrated design-build project delivery experience in public higher education situated in the Pacific Northwest; assembling and leading an integrated and high-performing design and construction team to produce exceptionally designed, high-value projects; use of target value design to validate and set project budgets; excellent communication skills; clear and concise analysis in support of efficient and timely decision-making; creating and maintaining a psychologically safe design and construction environment; achieving excellent site safety outcomes through pro-active practices; and ensuring thorough and complete commissioning and transition to occupancy services.

The proposed Welcome Center will be a vibrant, inspiring place, expressing the critical role the University plays locally, regionally and globally. It will house three primary uses including the place of

origin for prospective student engagement and orientation, the UW visitors center to share our history and significant achievements, and a place to convene and educate internal and external campus

community members. The proposed 30,000-33,000 GSF facility will be located at the northwest corner of our historic campus core, adjacent to the existing Burke Museum, along NE 45th Street between

Memorial Way and 15th Ave NE.

Once the RFQ is advertised, complete information will be at the following website address: https://university-of-washington.public-portal.us.workdayspend.com/ No further project information is available at this time.
