Bid Title: Independence Downtown Tree Replacement Phase I
Category: CITY Status: Open Description: The City of Independence is requesting a proposal from a licensed and insured landscaping company to perform a replacement planting of thirty-seven existing trees in the downtown business district of Independence, KS.
The downtown street scape features 4’ x 4’ tree wells set into the concrete sidewalk, covered with metal grates. Existing trees have exceeded the size limits for space and are due for replacement. The existing trees will be removed by city staff.
The locations of the tree wells to be replaced are as follows.
100 block of East Main Street
100 block of West Main Street
100 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue
100 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue.

Proposals should include cost estimatesfor the following scope of work.• Preparation of tree wells for plantingo Cleaning out of old soil, trash, or debris from tree wells.o Installation of vertical drain hole in the bottom of each tree well, if one is not alreadypresent. Vertical drains should be approximately 6” in diameter and 4’ – 5’deep. Thevertical drain hole should be filled with clean, course gravel. Provide a timeline of the proposed scope of work.5. Cost Proposal.Proposals will be evaluated based primarily on the following criteria:1. Overall proposal quality and responsiveness to the Request for Proposals, including but notlimited to the completeness, clarity, conciseness, and overall comprehension of the scope ofwork.2. Qualifications of the respondents, as evidenced by knowledge, skills and experience.3. Demonstrated proven experience with similar projects.4. Respondent’s personnel and available resources devoted to the project.5. Ability to complete the work in the designated period.6.
