BackgroundThe resource must include the following:
Provide explicit cursive handwriting instruction for students in grades 3–5.
Align with foundational writing expectations outlined in the 2023 NJSLS-ELA.
Is explicit, systematic, and sequential and includes direct modeling.
Developmentally sequenced lesson materials.
Visual models supporting correct stroke patterns and letter formation.
Student practice materials designed to build fluency and legibility.
Opportunities for students to engage in reading cursive text, including authentic and
developmentally appropriate sources.
Assessment tools or measures to evaluate.
Progress monitoring strategies aligned with instructional goals.
Cross-content instructional opportunities.
Practice activities designed to reinforce accuracy and legibility rather than speed.
