PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has invited all Contractors to bid on PBC Contract C1624, Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) Street Reconstruction (W. 89th St., S. Central Park Ave., S. Holland Rd.).The WPA Street Reconstruction (W. 89th St., S. Central Park Ave., S. Holland Rd.) Project is located at:
- W. 89 th St. – West 89th Street from South Princeton Avenue to South Holland Road Chicago
- S. Central Park Ave. – South Central Park Avenue from West 73rd Street to West 71st Street Chicago
- S. Holland Rd. – South Holland Road from West 89th Street to South Princeton Avenue Chicago
The project consists of a Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) street reconstruction Project, including: full-depth pavement reconstruction of the location indicated above. Work includes but isn’t limited to excavation, portland cement concrete base course, hot-mix asphalt surface course, sewer main, water main and drainage structures, water main, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalks, tactile/detectable warning surface system for curb ramps, concrete driveways and alleys, lighting, thermoplastic pavement marking, signs, topsoil, sodding, tree removal and planting.
Contractor will be required to prepare a Phasing and Logistics Plan within thirty (30) days of issuance of the Notice to Proceed (‘NTP’) for review and approval by CDOT and PBC, prior to the mobilization and commencement of any Work. The Contractor shall also be responsible for providing critical submittals, including electrical lighting (poles and luminaires), sewer and water main, and concrete mix design, as determined by the PBC, within thirty (30) days of issuance of the NTP.
The Project includes DWM Lead Service Line Replacement Work with three (3) service lines at S. Holland Rd. DWM requires approximately two (2) days per location to perform the work. DWM’s work is anticipated to commence Q3-2025. Upon Contract Award of the new WPA Projects, a meeting will be scheduled to review and confirm any/all coordination items, including DWM’s planned work activities. ComEd will relocate one (1) utility pole Alley on S. Holland Rd. between W. 89th Street and S. Yale Ave. ComEd will provide utility pole bracing at three (3) locations during construction between S. Yale Ave. and S. Princeton Ave.
