FACT SHEET
LICKING COUNTY HAZARD
MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE
2026 County Wide All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan Update
What is a Hazard Mitigation Plan?
A hazard mitigation plan is simply a written plan that helps Licking
County to identify ways to lessen the impact of a natural hazard (flood,
storm, tornado, etc.) on people and property.
Mitigation is designed to reduce loss of life and property by
lessening the impact of disasters before they happen.
Mitigation is taking action now—before the next disaster—to
reduce human and financial consequences later.
We update this plan every 5 years to ensure we are doing all
we can to mitigate the impact of disasters!
