It is anticipated that multiple firm(s) will be awarded a basic contract to provide the necessary utility engineering services for a period of three (3) years with two (2) subsequent 1-year renewal options that may be exercisable at the option of the County and as approved by the Volusia County Council and mutually agreed upon.
BackgroundThe Volusia County Water Resources & Utilities (WRU) division serves a population of approximately 45,000 in six service areas throughout the County. The WRU division operates ten (10) water systems varying in size from 100 to 10,000 connections. The division operates nine (9) water treatment plants; seven (7) wastewater treatment facilities; and (4) consecutive systems in compliance with all regulatory standards as established under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Acts. The WRU division maintains approximately 275 miles of water mains, 1,700 fire hydrants, 210 miles of sewer mains, 65 miles of reclaimed water mains, and 130 lift stations.
In addition, the WRU division partners with state agencies and neighboring local utilities to develop and implement regional water supply and water quality solutions for the protection of environmentally sensitive springs and rivers.
