The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) intends to enter a onetime agreement with Qiagen LLC to purchase reagents required for the Newborn Screening lab's assay for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCIO), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and to validate a new addition to Newborn Screening test panel for Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV).

This has been deemed a single source as Qiagen LLC is the only supplier that can provide these validated reagents. These are the only reagents that work with the currently validated CF method and SMA and SCID assays and are needed to validate CMV assay. These reagents are not available through any other party.
