Notice is hereby given that on May 2,2025  at 11:30 A.M. (Prevailing time), electronically sealed qualifications will be opened and conducted in electronic platform in accord with N.J.A.C. 5:34-1 et. Seq., on BidNet Direct at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/new-jersey/mercercounty at which time and place the bids will be opened publicly and read via live-stream by the Purchasing Agent in the Mercer County McDade Administration Building, 640 South Broad Street, Room 321 Third Floor, Trenton, New Jersey for:

PREQ-QUALIFICATION FOR THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE MERCER CEMETERY AT TRENTON LOCATED AT 43 SOUTH CLINTON AVENUE, TRENTON, NJ

INTENT

The County of Mercer is intending to hire a General Contractor to perform various improvements to the Mercer Cemetery at Trenton located at 43 South Clinton Ave, Trenton, NJ 08609. The County of Mercer seeks experienced Historic Restoration General Contractors who specialize in masonry, concrete repairs, lighting repairs and related construction background to historic sites. Only those bidders determined to be pre-qualified Historic Restoration General Contractors for this project will be invited to submit bids for the work. Due to the history of the Mercer Cemetery in Trenton it is essential that the contractor offers protection of the historic artifact monuments. This project will be funded by a grant from the NJDOT Safe Streets to Transit.

The cemetery features a variety of high-style monuments and simple gravestones with motifs and sculptural forms prevalent in the Victorian era including weeping willows, flora, hands, urns, funerary cloth, and masonic symbols. They also showcase a wide diversity of headstone shapes and epitaphs, including several large and impressive monuments featuring the skilled work of both local and Philadelphia based carvers.

Only those bidders determined to be prequalified Historic Restoration General Contractors for this project will be invited to submit bids for the work. All respondents will be notified in writing of the decision as to qualifications. Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A.10:5-31 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 17:27. The County of Mercer has fully complied with N.J.S.A 40A:11-25.
