INVITATION TO SUBMIT SAMPLES
TO THE
METROPOLITAN WATER RECLAMATION DISTRICT OF GREATER CHICAGO
26-633-SMP
POLYMERS FOR TESTING AT THE
STICKNEY WATER RECLAMATION PLANT
SAMPLE SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 24, 2026
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (District) will conduct
tests at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) beginning in March 2026, to select
suitable Mannich polymers for dewatering the anaerobically digested sludge. Only
Mannich polymers will be considered for this evaluation.
Submittal of polymers for testing at the Stickney WRP will take place in accordance with
procedures set forth in this document.
Only manufacturers may submit polymers for testing. Prospective suppliers should
contact manufacturers to request that they participate in the testing program. At the time
of bid solicitation, any suppliers authorized by the manufacturer, as well as manufacturers
themselves, may participate in bidding.
The procedure to submit polymers for testing includes:
1. Manufacturers submit polymer data in the required "Polymer Data Form," as well as
pint-sized polymer samples for acceptance testing, as set forth in this document, by
11:00 AM (Central Time) on February 24, 2026.
2. Each manufacturer may submit up to two Mannich polymer samples.
3. For each polymer found qualified via the initial pint-sized sample and data, the District
will estimate a larger quantity needed for full-scale, controlled comparison testing and
inform manufacturers of the quantities needed and the date by which the larger
quantities must be received.
4. During full-scale testing, the District will calculate the quantity of each polymer required
to properly condition the total anticipated amount of sludge for the contract period.
5. Bids will be invited on all acceptable polymers.
