Code Description 70151603 Timber production services The Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District is requesting sealed bids for a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 203.4 acres (“Sale Area”) within the Orange Creek Restoration Area, located in Marion County, Florida. The Sale Area is in Section 24; Township 12 South; Range 22 East and accessed at 5273 Hwy 318, Citra, Florida (29°25'48.0"N 82°03'47.0"W). Sale boundaries include roads, wetlands, and stands with natural timber. (Maps are included in the attached agreement.)
This timber sale is a marked thinning in planted longleaf that was established in 2008. Trees to cut and remove are marked with blue paint at eye level. This is not a row thinning. Entire rows of trees are not being removed for access due to a high percentage of diseased, defective, and suppressed trees that are marked for removal. Conducting a row thinning will take out too many quality trees. Approximately fifty percent of trees in the sale area will be cut and removed to allow adequate room for equipment to operate. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 4,360 tons of pine pulpwood, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
