INTRODUCTIONThe San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD or District) is soliciting quotes from contractorsto implement pre-construction measures for tree removal and maintenance on District-ownedland. The property is an undeveloped parcel located northwest of the intersection of DundeeAvenue and Country Club Drive in Ben Lomond, California (APN 078-233-05). Tree-service workis necessary to construct a new 120,000-gallon capacity tank and to create safe workingconditions at this site.II. SCOPE OF SERVICESThe work will consist of the removal of 12 trees and maintenance of an additional 11trees. Prior to starting any tree removal or maintenance, an onsite meeting withSLVWD’s consulting arborist will be required, with follow-up meetings as necessary.a) TREE REMOVALEight (8) live trees and four (4) dead trees require removal. Figure 1 is provided as reference forlocations of numbered trees. Diameter at breast height (DBH) is the width of the trunk in inchesmeasured at 4.5 feet above natural grade (ground level). For trees that were unable to bemeasured at 4.5 feet above natural grade, measurement heights are provided. CHIPPING OR DISPOSAL OF MATERIALSContractor will log, chip, or remove all excess debris caused by the cutting or removal of trees.Logs will be cut into 16” lengths and safely stacked and left on site at a designated areadetermined by SLVWD staff. Branches and other material will be removed from site and legallydisposed of as green waste.IV. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONContractor must protect all non-target plant materials, site improvements, structures, facilities,utilities, and natural or cultural areas from damage, both above and below ground. Anydamages shall be reported immediately to an SLVWD representative. Any damages caused byContractor shall be corrected and/or paid for by the Contractor at no cost to SLVWD.Specific measures include:• Conduct all operations to avoid unacceptable damage to boles, roots and crowns ofexisting trees, seedlings and other vegetation.• Avoid buffer zones determined by SLVWD’s representative to protect amphibians,cultural sites or other specific areas of concern. Avoidance buffers may be identifiedbefore or during work activity.• Contractor is responsible for protection against poison oak and other hazards and willmaintain a health and safety plan for all workers.• Equipment shall not be operated when ground conditions are such to cause erosion orrutting. All activities that may result in soil erosion during the rainy season should beprotected with appropriate erosion control measures before rain events. These areaswill be determined by SLVWD’s Representative.• The Contractor shall refuel and repair equipment in a safe manner to protect againstaccidental spills. Measures shall be taken to prevent, control, and clean-up spills. Clean-ups should be immediate, automatic and routine and performed by a trained staffmember. Contact the local emergency response team agencies to report all minor ormajor spills.• Contractor shall not sweep, wash or blow soil, litter, chips, or other materials into stormdrains. Contractor shall not apply any pesticides.V. CLEAN UPAt completion, Contractor will rehabilitate all and any portions of project site area that areaffected by the work performed. Rehabilitation requirement includes but may not be limited totire, equipment or track marks, collateral damage to trees and garbage or other project-generated non-vegetative debris left on site by workers.VI. PERMITS AND FEESContractor shall pay for all permits and fees required for work under this Contract, includingbut not limited to all disposal fees. CEQA permitting will not be required of Contractor.VII. WORK SCHEDULEWork periods will generally be limited to Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and/orin accordance with local equipment operating period limitations. No work will be scheduled onweekends and federal holidays nor will work be performed on Red Flag Warning days. Workmust be completed by March 1, 2026.VIII. COST ESTIMATE AND SCHEDULEPlease provide a total cost estimate for the scope of work, including the following details atminimum:• Hourly crew cost (identifying crew size)• Estimated hours to complete• Equipment utilizedWork must be completed by March 1, 2026.
