BackgroundThe City of Lakeland owns and operates multiple power generation facilities that require reliable, code-compliant fire protection systems to ensure life safety, protect critical infrastructure, and maintain uninterrupted utility operations. These facilities include McIntosh Power Plant, Larsen Station, and Winston Peaking Station.
Each site contains a variety of suppression and detection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants/standpipes, engineered suppression systems, fire pumps, foam systems, water mist systems, and fire alarm networks, that must remain in continuous compliance with NFPA standards, Florida Statutes, and local fire codes.
Due to the essential nature of electric power generation, system reliability is critical. Fire protection equipment must undergo regular inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance, with prompt corrective service and emergency response available 24/7/365.
