The approximate project clearing limits are marked and posted by the Town’s tree warden.2. Trees must be felled by May 15, 2026, then stumps and felled trees must be removed by thecontractor off-site removal is the responsibility of the contractor.3. The soil export from necessary grading can be brought to the Town transfer station (91Roxbury Road, Niantic) to be deposited without fee.4. The construction site entrance shall be in the same location and approximate grade as thefuture proposed driveway (option 3) to the east of the existing kiosk, there is a need to cutback the berm along the road to establish this entrance. The kiosk should be protected orremoved and replaced after construction is completed.Questions Received:1. Q: Is a bid bond required?A: No.2. Q: Are we allowed to remove the guardrail to gain access to the dam and are we allowed touse jersey barriers in the guardrail removed areas?A: Yes to removing the rail, but needs to be approved by CTDOT. It may require removaland replacement of guardrail on a daily basis, we do not have a response yet fromCTDOT.3. Q: It was mentioned to repair the chain-link fence on the headwall. Are we replacing thechain-link fence and posts or do we have to use the existing chain-link fence in the repair?A: New chain link fence (in kind) to be replaced the entire run. New fence to beinstalled between the guiderail and the headwall, old fence removed.4. Q: Are we allowed to set our equipment on the dam spillway area?A: On sheets 3 and 3A we show how to access the spillway apron.5. Q: The detail dimensions are not for a PZC- 13 either PZC 13 ‘s are 55” w and 12” deep.(shown 44” & 9”) [what is the acceptable product?]A: Provide PCZ 13 for the project, ignore detail dimensions.6. Q: Can 8-9” straw wattles be used in lieu of siltsoxx and typically the flap for the silt fence isburied and then the wattle is placed against the fence.A: Yes this is an acceptable alternate, provided it is spike as shown on the detail.7. Q: No specification is provided for steel sheets. Drawing C-3A states PCZ 13, grade 60 orequal. Please confirm sheets are to be supplied mill finish and no sealant is required ininterlocks.A: Supplied mill finish with no sealant is acceptable.8. Q: Please provide borings or other information that demonstrates drivability of sheets.A: Provided on the webpage.9. Q: Can concrete dam re-facing be formed and poured in lieu of shotcreted?A: Yes, either one is acceptable.10. Q: Drawing C-4 shows clearing for construction entrance and staging area. The limit ofclearing does not include equipment access between the staging area and the east side ofthe dam/spillway. Please confirm contractor will be allowed to clear this area as needed toprovide equipment and material access for dam and spillway work.A: Confirmed, yes additional clearing at the eastern portion of the dam is allowed.11. Q: For the tree clearing, are we limited to what is shown on the plan or can additional treesbe removed depending on equipment used for the dam work?A: Confirmed, yes additional clearing at the eastern portion of the dam is allowed.12. Q: For tree clearing on the Base Bid, shall this include all the trees within the limits of theparking area and associated grading as well?A: Yes.13. Q: For the debris removal, this is limited to tree debris and leaves? There will be noexcavating/dredging of soil?A: There is no excavation or dredging of soil.14. Q: The concrete apron between the dam and culverts is suitable for equipment loads anduse, with wood mats being placed over concrete?A: Yes15. Q: Can a temporary access be established to access the right side of the dam for proposedwork?A: Yes, but needs to be approved by CTDOT. It may require removal and replacement ofguardrail on a daily basis, we do not have a response yet from CTDOT.16. Q: If police details are required, with those be provide by the Town or does the contractorneed to include in the bid?A: This can be provided by the Town, contractor to indicate the number of days required fortraffic control. Detail may be Police or certified flaggers.17. Q: Clarifying that the chain link fence on top of the headwall with need to be replaced withnew for the entire length?A: New chain link fence (in kind) to be replaced the entire run. New fence to beinstalled between the guiderail and the headwall, old fence removed.18. Q: Is the excavation and removal of soils for the parking lot area to be included in the BaseBid or Option #3?A: The base bid only includes enough for the contractor to establish a work area. Theremainder is covered in option 3. The soil export from necessary grading can bebrought to the Town transfer station (91 Roxbury Road, Niantic) to be deposited withoutfee.19. Q: On the Parking Lot plan, sheet SP-1, Can you please provide a detail of the level spreader,specifically if geotextile fabric will be required on bottom and sides, etc.?A: No, geotextile is not required.
