The City of Holland will receive sealed bids from prospective bidders for MOWING SERVICES for City of Holland.
The bids will be received at the FINANCE OFFICE IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, 270 S. RIVER AVENUE, HOLLAND, MICHIGAN until 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 9, 2026 at which time they will be publicly opened and read. You are invited, but not required, to attend said bid opening.
Bids must be on the “BID FORM” provided and be submitted in a sealed envelope that is plainly marked “MOWING SERVICES Bid”.
All bids are to be net, F.O.B. – Holland, Michigan.

In case of default by theselected vendor, the City of Holland may procure its requirements from another vendor,without going through additional bidding procedures, and hold the original vendor liable forany increased costs.The City of Holland reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive anyirregularities/informalities in the bids received and to split the bid if deemed desirable by theCity.Contracts and Purchase Orders shall be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Indetermining the lowest responsible bidder, in addition to price, the items set forth in Section 2-48 (Award of contracts and Purchases) and Section 2-48.1 (Preference for LocalBidders/Holland- Based Businesses) of the Ordinance Code of the City of Holland shall beconsidered.The City of Holland reserves the right to consider use of the State of Michigan contractPurchasing Program or other purchasing programs available to Michigan local units ofgovernment that have met bid requirements for identical vehicles/equipment.Lynn McCammonPurchasing Coordinator(616)355-1377City of Holland Parks Mowing Services BidScope of WorkOverviewThe City of Holland is seeking bids from Mowing Contractors to provide rates for a range ofservices to be done throughout the entirety of all City of Holland managed property. Thiscontract will be for a period of three years from the time it is awarded. All bidders mustshow evidence of proper licenses and insurance.Scope of Work16th St. BlvdsThis is referring to the Median strips on 16th St. between Waverly rd. & Country ClubRd. totaling an estimated 2 acres. Serviced once a week each year from April 1 to Nov. 1.Servicing includes mowing, weed whipping, edging, backpack blowing & removing debrisunless specified otherwise. Below you will find the required time frames for the work. Flushmarkers (example below) are the memorial stones that sit level with the ground. Theexpectation is that the face of all flush markers will be clear of any dirt or grass. For thisportion of the bid, bidders are highly encouraged to contact Cemetery Supervisor, Ray Beanto set up a meeting. For 2026 this would mean the Cemetery would be servicedbetween May 11 & May 22.July 15: Within 10 days of July 15, before or after.September 15: Within 10 days of September 15, before or after.Pilgrim Home Cemetery (South Side)Flush MarkerPermitsThe contractor is responsible for acquiring all needed and appropriate permits for work to becompleted.Bid Information RequiredThe contractor shall supply for bidding purposes a cost for the following:• Total cost per year per location listed• Certificate of Insurance• Three ReferencesWork HistoryContractors with a history of work in the public sector will be given preference.Selection ProcessThe two sections (Cemetery & Blvds) of this should be viewed as separate bids. This meansthat, due to cost restraints, one portion of this bid may be accepted but not the other.InsuranceThe contractor shall agree to indemnify and save harmless the City of Holland, including itsofficers, agents and employees from any and all liabilities that may result from the contractor’swork as proposed herein. This covenant of indemnification shall include any reasonableattorney fees and costs incurred in defense of any actions, claims or liability by the City.The contractor shall maintain general liability insurance, automobile liability insurance,employer liability insurance, and workers compensation insurance on all employees who workor perform services under the proposed purchase order or contract. The general liabilityinsurance and automobile liability insurance required herein shall name the City of Holland, itsofficers, agents and employees as additionally insured, and shall be in the form of acomprehensive, general and automobile bodily injury and property damage policy, and shallprovide that the City receive not less than ten (10) days prior written notice in the event ofcancellation or change in terms thereof. Said policy shall be for the following minimum limits:• statutory workers’ comp,• commercial general liability no less than $1,000,000 each occurrence and $2,000,000aggregate• commercial auto (if auto is used for the work) for $1,000,000 each accident and$2,000,000 aggregate,• Umbrella liability for $5,000,000 each occurrence and $5,000,000 aggregate.Evidence of an approved insurance policy shall be submitted by the successful bidder andapproved by the City of Holland prior to commencement of the work as here in proposed.
